Netball has changed a lot over the years. With increased speed, athleticism, the ever-growing popularity of mixed netball teams and an overall rise in player skills, playing Netball has become an intensified physical contest.

At the same time, netball is a social game and half the fun is meeting like-minded people. Our community of netball enthusiasts are welcoming, nurturing and open minded. All player levels and ages (18 and up) are encouraged to join.

If you would like to join, the balls in your court.

The Team

Rebecca (Bek) Grouios

Bek is one of the two ladies working frantically behind the scenes to make Melbourne Social Netball run seamlessly.
Bek started umpiring in 2013 at Flagstaff Gardens and Ascot Vale. In 2014, while pregnant with her eldest daughter, Bek was asked to join the MSN support team. Ten years on, she is now a co-owner and dedicated to building Melbourne Social Netball to be more successful than ever.
Whilst by night Bek is a netball enthusiast, by day Bek is a busy lawyer, specialising in Family Law. Bek has been a lawyer for over a decade and regularly travels the East Coast of Australia working in the family law space, advocating predominantly for women who have experienced domestic violence. But her most important role is being a mum to her 3 beautiful children.

Tina Blythman

Tina started playing netball in South Yarra with MSN after arriving in Melbourne in 2007 from Sydney. After several seasons of persistent requests, Tina joined the umpire team in 2010. In 2013 this progressed to helping the MSN Administration team and quickly became Operations Manager. Tina is now the co-owner of Melbourne Social Netball and plays a huge role behind the scenes in growing the organisation.
Professionally, Tina has been in Human Resources in Learning and Organisational Development roles for over 20 years: specialising in Leadership, Talent and Wellbeing. Netball has been a strong influence and key spot since being a teenager. In addition to her love of Learning, and of Netball, she is also a practicing Yoga Teacher and most importantly, Mum to Max and Charlie!
